This Bundle has the media you replace monthly & grease for three monthly changes, including Phosphate, Ammonia & Nitrite Remover Pads. It also has BioMax and Bio-Foam, which should be replaced every six months. In addition, we include the Cycle to beef up your biological filtration and a MarineAndReef Towel because you need to stop using the kitchen towels for aquarium spills.
The Remover Pads are essential to preventative aquarium maintenance. Ammonia and phosphate are commonly found in tap water. They are also the result of fish waste and the breakdown of uneaten fish food. Phosphate, nitrite and ammonia are all problematic. They all lead to green water. More importantly, ammonia and nitrite spikes are toxic and can kill your fish.
This maintenance package will last you three months. It has SIX of the Water Polishing Pads, SIX of the Phosphate Pads, SIX of each of the three Remover Pads, and SIX of the Carbon. The filter takes two Carbons, two Phosphate, two of each of the Remover Pads and two Quick-Clears. There is also one tube of Silicone Grease for each month.
The items specific to the Fluval recommended semi-annual maintenance are the Bio-Foam Value Pack (Bio-Foam, Bio-Foam Max and Bio-Foam+), which should be replaced every six months, and the BioMax. You should replace only half of your BioMax every six months (BioMax included).
